Your Bike is one of several enterprises which use bikes as a vehicle for social good. This youth-led social enterprise maintains, repairs and improves bicycles and reinvests its profits into training and employment opportunities for young people, especially those who are not in education, training or employment.
Trainees receive formal training which leads to a national industry standard qualification, and since its founding over 100 people have benefited from its local projects.
Your Bike was founded by four young people, all of whom grew up on estates in Camden, London. They were initially turned down for a grant from Camden Council, before two anonymous donors provided £5,000 funding to set up with. They were quickly hired by the Metropolitan Police to repair recovered stolen bikes which could not be linked to an owner; the profits from their sales were the beginning of Your Bike’s social impact.
