With hundreds of thousands of empty spaces across the country and long-term unemployment problems, Pinkspiration seeks to kill two birds with one stone by employing people to renovate those spaces.
Since its founding, Pinkspiration has upskilled over 3,000 young people, 70% of whom are women in an industry where 1% of construction jobs are held by women. These people have rebuilt 10 empty spaces and supported 20 business start-ups. 70% of employees have progressed to training, employment or their own projects.
Pinkspiration has won a number of awards including from NatWest and Virgin Media, and was featured on the BBC’s Design Factor in 2014.
