Recycling Lives is a commercial recycling company with its own welfare charity, which helps vulnerable people to work their way back to independent living.

It uses the profits from its commercial activities – which include recycling, skip hire, tyre sales, used television sales and training programmes – to run the Recycling Lives centre, a home for homeless and long-term unemployed people.

The charity sources and provides employment, work experience, training and education opportunities to these vulnerable members of the community, through a personalised six-stage process, Pathways to Independence, which takes place over around 30 weeks.

The centre also hosts educational programmes for the local community and community events, and houses small businesses and social enterprises. And the charity runs a social enterprise cafe where residents work with other local charities to learn skills and help them on their way to work.
