The 6-week programme is delivered by Jobs & Business Glasgow with support from JP Morgan and Glasgow City Council. The course is based on innovative learning techniques and workshops delivered in partnership with young entrepreneurs based at the Youth Enterprise Zone. JP Morgan is a significant local employer and its staff act as mentors for young people taking part in the course.
The involvement of ‘real’ business people in learning and mentoring is considered a critical factor in ensuring positive outcomes, while participants’ efforts are also recognised through an Institute of Leadership and Management level 2 certificate. In the first 8 months, 104 young people aged 16 – 20 have successfully completed the course, with 71 moving into employment, further training or running their own business.
