Trading Times is an online service that matches the skills and availability of local people with the ad hoc resource needs of local businesses.
By matching individuals to flexible opportunities in local businesses, Trading Times, a social enterprise, specifically addresses the working needs of older people, family carers and single parents – groups with rich skills and experience but for whom full-time work is difficult or impossible.
Trading Times was launched in 2013, with the prototype development having been supported by the Design Council’s Living Well With Dementia Challenge. This development phase included an evidence-gathering exercise that indicated the potential for the approach to have positive impacts.
Trading Times is currently running as a six-month pilot in Barnet, North London, and is looking for further funding to scale nationally as soon as it can.
